INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PRESENTATION OF ABSTRACTS

  1. Deadline for submission: SEPTEMBER 11, 2024.
  2. Acceptance notifications will be sent via email
  3. Abstracts must be original.
  4. They must be submitted only through the submission portal on the website.
  5. Abstracts sent by email, WhatsApp or any other means other than the web portal will not be accepted.
  6. Presenting authors must be prepared to register for and attend the meeting (registration and travel costs will not be covered by any of the organizations in charge of the event).
  7. The author or co-author must be present at the meeting to present the poster and be available to answer questions.
  8. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by IPPS members of the program's abstract review committee.
  9. The abstract may be submitted for a poster presentation, however, based on quality and impact, an abstract may be selected by the IPPS review committee for a brief oral presentation as a virtual poster.
  1. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and graded based on whether the abstract:
  • Contains new findings
  • The material is clearly presented
  • Has clear objectives and research question
  • Has a study design statement
  • Proper description of methods
  • Clear presentation of results
  • Applicability to Patients with Pelvic Pain (Impact)
  • The results support the conclusion
  1. The submission of an abstract implies the acceptance that the abstract will be listed in the official publications of the meeting, if selected for publication by the reviewers.
  2. Selected abstracts will be published in PAIN Reports, a multidisciplinary open-access journal that is an official publication of the International Association for the Study of Pain. Note: case reports will not be published.
  3. An abstract will only be selected for publication in PAIN Reports if it meets the publication requirements and the author or co-author is registered for the conference.
  4. Abstracts that have been presented at another meeting may be submitted, however, they will not be published if they have already been published previously.
  5. The presenting author must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
  6. Abstracts must be submitted in English or Spanish.
  7. The abstract should reflect the information presented in the corresponding poster.
  8. Reviewers may reject any abstract or poster that does not meet the IPPS high quality research/presentation standards or that does not meet the IPPS standards of professionalism.
  9. Abstracts participants (authors and co-authors) must declare disclosures and conflicts of interest in the abstract, poster, and final presentation (if selected).
  10. Submissions may not be used to advertise or promote a specific commercial interest.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Before you begin, prepare the presenting author's email, day and night phone number, the first and last name of the co-authors, and their affiliations (institution/hospital/city, country).
  • We recommend using a word processor (e.g., Word) to edit your abstract and count the number of words before submitting it. The abstract cannot exceed 250 words combined (punctuation counts as characters). The title, author block (affiliations), and source of financial support are not included in the abstract count. Posters must be organized into the following sections and will not be accepted if sections are missing:
  • TITLE: Uppercase and dark letter. It must be specific, complete and indicate the content. No abbreviations.
  • AUTHOR(S): Surname and initials of the first name for each author, maximum 6 authors. A form of contact with the main author (e-mail, telephone) must be included.
  • INSTITUTION: It must include the name of the institution, city, state or province and country.
  • INTRODUCTION: The objectives of the work should be preferably stated.
  • MATERIALS AND METHODS: Describe the study design, study population, materials, procedures and statistical methods used, ethical aspects.

  • KEYWORDS: Up to three words that describe the abstract and allow it to be indexed.
  • Use only standard abbreviations, place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word first appears.
  • Use generic drug names.
  • Express numbers as numerals (e.g., 1, 2, 3...).
  • You will receive a submission number of the abstract by email after completing the submission, please keep it.
  • After you submit your abstract, you will not be able to perform any changes.
  • Posters on any topic related to pain medicine will be considered, however, in 2024, the following topics are of particular interest:
